Industrial Revolutions – What, When, Where and How it impacts Software Development Life Cycle?

Industrial Revolutions have been significant global transformative events since the 18th century. The world has experienced four Industrial Revolutions and is now progressing toward a comprehension and integration of concepts related to the fifth revolution. Each revolution has brought technological advancements that have influenced human operations across various sectors. Since the third Industrial Revolution, the software industry has carved out a critical role within industrial domains. In the current global landscape of emerging technologies, developing countries are adopting Industry 4.0, while developed nations are advancing toward Industry 5.0, which has notably affected key aspects of the software development life cycle (SDLC). This session will cover: What are Industrial Revolutions? When have they occurred? What changes have they brought? How do they influence the SDLC, and do they indicate a need for Software Industry professionals to rethink their practices?
