If testing is the validation of whether the outcome of the application matches desired expectations, wouldn’t it be essential to have alignment on what those expectations are? Shifting quality to the left is not new, but it is still the best way to make testing and software development 10x more efficient. Many teams still struggle with the gap between business and development and this is hurting testing practices throughout the SDLC. We can’t apply proper test levels or observability if your organization isn’t aligned on what quality is. In this talk, Martijn will share examples and a few methods to get the topic of quality discussed at the start of the journey. Methods he teaches in his workshops and applied examples of his consultancy projects. Because it’s easy to start this conversation and get everyone involved. We will look at why it is key to have all the information and discussion before a single line of (test) code is written. Martijn will walk you through how this information can be discussed using Example Mapping and how 3 amigo sessions can speed up and empower your refinements. As a closing thought, he’ll show 3 short examples of how you can use the power of AI to give your shift left a modern nudge.
